Competitive
and Recreational Sailing in Access Dinghies
One
of the official dinghies for Sailability regattas
internationally and designed for physically
disabled sailors. The Access Dinghy provides not
only for recreational sailors but also for those
wishing to participate in training for
competitive sailing both in N.Z. and overseas,
including the Paralympics. Expert training by
Yachting New Zealand accredited instructors is
available for all levels of sailing.
The Access Dinghy's
uniqueness comes from several original design
features:
- Roller reefing system, enabling the
sailor to adjust the size of the sail to
suit various conditions while under way.
- Ballasted centreboard, ensuring the
dinghy will not capsize.
- Hull design - innovative concave hull
shape promotes additional stability.
- Sailed by an individual seated low down
in the boat instead of leaning over the
side to gain stability.
- The joystick control system can be easily
operated by people with a physical
disability.
